Canon notes: Fandom OC based off a player character in Destiny. For the purposes of canon continuity, this character isn't the main character from Destiny 1, but was around for it all - he's been to the Dreadnought but wasn't the one who defeated Oryx, etc. The only part he can take credit for is capturing and then going up for a rematch with Skolas in the Prison of Elders. However, he is the main character for Destiny 2 - he lost but regained his Light, took back the City, defeated Ghaul, found Osiris, and helped Ana Bray wake up Rasputin. (He was not the one to defeat Calus, however he has visited the Leviathan.) He comes from shortly after the main story quest of Forsaken, having just started to explore the Dreaming City but not yet dipped his toes into the fight against Riven.

Species: Awoken. They were human once, but when their ship encountered something unknown out in space, they were irreversibly changed. Their skin turned blue, their eyes began to glow, and many of them gained mysterious powers.

History: Like all Guardians, Lorden doesn't remember much of his previous life: a few impressions of purple and blue, memory snatches of a laughing child and a deep shadow over a vaulted cathedral, vistas of Earth from orbit. His true memories begin when he's found in the rubble of an old building deep in one of Earth's Dead Zones with a perky little Ghost happy to have finally found her other half. A bit overwhelmed by the City and the Tower, he stayed out in the wilderness and ran scouting missions for the Vanguard for a while before a Titan friend of his convinced him to go check out the Moon. From there, they started fighting the Darkness on several different planets, eventually making contact with the Awoken of the Reef. Visiting there felt like home for the first time, and it wasn't long before he was accepting bounties from the Queen's Wrath and learning more about his heritage, if not directly about who he once was.

Everything changed when the Dreadnought attacked. Most of the Reef's fighting forces were struck down in an instant, and the Guardians had to sneak on the ship a little at a time. Lorden helped pave the way for the fireteam that eventually killed the Taken King and spent much of his time cleansing what he could of that massive ship. When Earth called for his help again against the SIVA virus, he took up arms with Lord Saladin to push it back, but he always returned to the Dreadnought, seeking any signs of the Awoken Queen and refusing to believe she was dead. He didn't find her, but he did find a distress beacon from the Cabal to their homeworld. He shut it off, but it was to have consequences not long after.

The City was celebrating a rare time of peace when a massive Cabal armada from the Red Legion descended, using an awful tool to cut off the Traveler's Light. All the Guardians were stripped of their abilities, and many died a final death in the fall of the Tower. Lorden managed to scrape himself together, and with the help of Suraya Hawthorne he evacuated to his old stomping grounds in Europe. There was a broken fragment of the Traveler there, and he made his way to it and asked one final gift. His Light returned, though in a different form than before: it would always bear a taint of corruption. Nevertheless, he manged to find a few other Guardians with similar gifts and together they brought the Vanguard back and slew the Dominus, freeing the Traveler and awakening its Light once again.

A distress call from the partially-destroyed Mercury led to a time-bending adventure to rescue the mysterious Guardian Osiris from a prison of his own making, and a little help from a reborn technocrat on Mars led to the restoration of the Warmind Rasputin. Lorden grew stronger and regained all his lost abilities, even developing new ones as he went along. Invited to the Leviathan for the amusement of the Cabal Emperor, he explored a bit but ultimately decided not to test his strength.

Suddenly, the Awoken Prince who was thought to have been lost in the attack on the Dreadnought resurfaced and murdered one of the Vanguard in his escape from prison. Commander Zavala refused to put the Vanguard at risk, but with Ikora's blessing Lorden and his friends hunted down the Prince and his loyal Scorn Barons. It wasn't a hard choice to make - Cayde-6 had been loyal, if overly reckless, and moreover the Prince had slaughtered all of the Awoken of the Reef that had bent the knee. Though he eventually let Petra pull the trigger, he didn't regret his part in hunting the broken man down.

Finally, because it was revealed that the driving force behind Uldren's madness was at the heart of the Reef itself, the Guardians were invited into the Dreaming City, a hidden paradise tainted by the Darkness. His Queen is still alive and fighting on another front, and he's determined to help her once more as the Vanguard grows slowly more divided and distant....

Personality: Carefree and impulsive, Lorden embodies the bravery all Guardians are encouraged to show. Having many lives means you don't worry about putting yourself at risk, but because of his time without the Light he's more cautious than many others. There have been too many times when he's gone on a mission to rescue another Guardian only to find a Lightless corpse at the end of the trail. Still, if there's something shiny at the top of a cliff, and his Ghost is there to revivify him, it's hard to stop him from climbing up without safety gear. Given his reckless driving, it's probably very good he isn't a pilot.

He has a boundless curiosity for lost knowledge. Part of this is because he doesn't remember who he was and part of it is because he's still trying to figure out who he is. He spends a lot of time looking for traces of information, like the Book of Sorrows on the Dreadnought or the dead ghosts from around the Tangled Shore with fragments of memory left. because he hangs out with Warlocks, he has a better idea of the kinds of intricate theories about the nature of the Light and the Darkness than most Hunters do - and yet having read Toland's journal, he isn't eager to seek out the Darkness too closely. Curiosity from a distance is the best kind, and doesn't tend to result in terrible accidents.

Though he's fascinated by the Reefborn Awoken, his first and strongest loyalty is to Humanity as a whole - the definition of which stretches to Awoken as they were once human, and Exos who were created by humans and hold the same level of consciousness. It's most important to have a people that can thrive on Earth first, and then they can consider expanding outwards. Because of the support they had for citizens during the Red War, his faction loyalty is currently given to new Monarchy. While he has his doubts about the City as a safe haven, it's also the only place most humans have. For that reason alone he'll continue to protect it. He's especially fond of children because there aren't enough of them. His loyalty extends to his teammates, whether Guardians met by chance out on patrol or his core fireteam friends, a Human Titan and an Exo Warlock. Call on Lorden and he'll always have your back.

Likewise, few things upset him more than betrayal. Uldren's betrayal of his people hurt Lorden even more than Cayde's murder did, and he finds the Hive so repellent because they constantly sacrifice their own in death rituals. Conversely, he has a sympathy for the Fallen as long as they stick to their clan dynamics and stop murdering humans. The Cabal with their endless march of destruction and the Vex with their quest for domination both seem shortsighted and petty to him, and he cannot abide their worldview that doesn't leave room for other cultures. The Fallen, though - he could coexist with the Fallen under the right circumstances.

Finally, coming from a world that has faced the apocalypse, Lorden takes delight in simple things, like rediscovering an old ramen recipe or finding out dragonflies aren't mythical after all. Humanity will always hold a special place in his heart, and he loves to share it with others as well.

Abilities: As an Arcstrider, Lorden has the ability to channel Arc energy (aka electricity). This manifests in three primary ways:
Arcbolt grenade: A grenade that spreads to nearby enemies with a chain lightning effect.
Disorienting blow: Punching someone causes the opponent to become confused.
Arc staff: A staff of pure Arc energy appears for about ten seconds, capable of electrocuting any foes it touches.

Additionally, as a Hunter running Way of the Wind, Lorden has the following abilities:
Triple Jump: What it says on the tin. Much cooler than a double jump.
Marksman's Dodge: Dodging nearby enemies causes his weapon to be reloaded. No, we're not sure how it works, either.

General Awoken Guardian traits include the following:
Revive: With his Ghost nearby, Lorden can be revived from death. This ability is inactive as he does not currently have his Ghost.
Light: The Light is the force that powers all of his abilities. Anyone who can sense magic will be able to see it shining through him; if it is suppressed, he would lose everything except his basic skill at arms and the Darkness ability described below.
Darkness: Between his experiences in the Dreadnought and the Dreaming City, Lorden is part Ascendant. As a result, he can enter Darkness portals with the proper equipment. This is unlikely to come into play in the game.
Awoken Sense: The Awoken often have uncanny senses about the world. His manifests as an ability to detect places where the boundaries between realities are thin, and to notice when time is being manipulated (very useful around the Vex).

Augment Skillset: Security
Sample:[Fully armored up, Lorden resembles nothing so much as a fancy-looking elven-designed robot in a hooded cape, and he doesn't seem to mind any odd looks he gets as he paws through piles of sharp objects looking for something - anything - he can use as a weapon. He's grateful he didn't arrive naked, but losing all his fancy guns and access to his Vault once was enough for him. At least this time he still has the Light. He flips open the communicator and waves cheerfully into it.]

Hey, everybody. New guy here. If I find some gun parts, can anyone smash them together into something that actually fires for me? The ones I got with the augment thing are nice and all, but it's better to have a mix of kinetic and energy weapons than just one or the other.

[He pauses.]

Also, is there a place to practice throwing knives up on the ships or do I just have to do target practice on the little cord-munchers?
